Program Description:
Do you wish to study in a country where WMU does not offer a study abroad program? Or, have you found a particular program you are interested in attending that's not included in our catalog?

WMU Study Abroad can assist you with non-WMU programs, as well. If you are considering a program that is not listed on the WMU Study Abroad program list, please complete this Non-WMU Program Application.

During the application process for Non-WMU programs, you will be asked to provide basic information about the program you would like to attend.  Your application will be reviewed by WMU Study Abroad for approval.

WMU students can typically use their financial aid and still apply for scholarships to help cover the cost of a non-WMU prorgram.

Pell Grant recipients studying a critical need language abroad for a semester are eligible to apply and can receive up to $8,000. Go to to see if you qualify.

Non-WMU program approval criteria:
  • Accreditation - a recognized university must issue an official transcript for your course work.
  • Safety - will you be safe on this program?
  • Department approval - will your academic department accept the coursework toward your degree?
